Bright, cheerful, and made for beginners

A glossy, sunny orange cup and saucer with platinum trim, and inside, the 32 traditional tea leaf reading symbols printed in full colour. Colourful symbols are easier to pick out than black ones, which makes this the friendliest cup I make for a first-time reader.

I'm Karin. I design these cups, I read with them, and I teach people to do the same. If you want to learn tea leaf reading and enjoy every minute of it, start here.

How it works

Drink your tea, leaving a little liquid and a few leaves behind. Swirl the cup three times, turn it onto the saucer to drain, then turn it back over. The leaves settle beside the printed symbols: those near the rim speak to the near future, those near the base to what lies further ahead. Your guidebook tells you what each one means.

What it gives you

  • The easiest possible start to tea leaf reading
  • Clear, colourful symbols that are easy to pick out
  • A bright, uplifting start to every day
  • A cheerful gift for anyone curious about tea leaf reading

The design

  • Cup: glossy bright orange with a platinum rim and handle
  • Saucer: matching glossy orange with a platinum rim
  • Inside: the 32 traditional tea leaf reading symbols, printed in full colour on white
  • Spoon: white ceramic with a little illustrated symbol, tied with an orange ribbon

What you receive

  • 1 Orange Tasseography teacup, 200ml (6.8 fl oz), with platinum trim
  • 1 matching saucer
  • White ceramic teaspoon with a little illustrated symbol, tied with an orange ribbon, a gift from me
  • 2 sample tubes of my tea, chosen because they read clearly
  • Symbols guidebook, with a QR code that takes you straight to your free online video course (valued at $110 AUD)
  • Want a full pack of tea? Choose the green blend (a light strawberry note) or the black blend (a light rose note) above.

Care

Porcelain, made in my Berwick studio. Made for everyday tea. Hand wash only: the platinum trim is metallic, so it will not survive the dishwasher or the microwave. The printed symbols are permanent and will not fade.

Questions buyers ask

Is it suitable for a complete beginner?
Yes. It is the cup I recommend most for first-time readers: the symbols are printed in colour, the guidebook explains each one, and the course starts from the very beginning.

What is the difference between the two Orange cups?
Same bright orange cup and saucer with platinum trim. The Orange Tarot has the 22 Major Arcana inside; the Orange Tasseography has 32 traditional tea leaf symbols.

How do I get the course?
Scan the QR code in your guidebook and you are in. Buying it as a gift? I can enrol your recipient after delivery; just let me know.

From Karin

I learned to read tea leaves at my mother's table in Tasmania, and I have been reading them all my life. For years my readings spread by word of mouth; in 2012 I took my practice online, and in 2017 I opened my online school, where over 17,000 students have since learned with me. Every piece is designed by me and made in my Berwick studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

These cups are made to be used, not just admired. Most are porcelain and some are New Bone China, both vegan friendly with no animal bone ash, and the imagery is kiln fired into the glaze, so it will not fade, scratch off or wash away with daily use. Karin has put them through extensive testing of her own for longevity. Hand washing is recommended to protect the 24kt gold and platinum detail.

You do not need any experience at all. Each set comes with a symbols guidebook and a QR code for the free online video course, valued at 110 dollars, where Karin walks you through everything from brewing the cup to reading the symbols with confidence.

Loose leaf tea works best, as the leaves settle into the shapes you will be reading. Every teacup set arrives with two tea samplers, a green tea and a black tea, so you can begin the moment it lands on your table, and Karin's own reading blends are available in 25 gram bags when you are ready for more. If you prefer tea bags, the course shows you how to work with those too.

Everything you need is in the box. Each set includes the cup and saucer, two tea samplers, a green tea and a black tea, a teaspoon to match the one pictured in the listing, the symbols guidebook and the QR code for your free online video course. It is a complete tea leaf reading kit ready to use straight away, with nothing further to buy, which is part of what makes it such a lovely gift.

Every order is packed and dispatched by hand from Berwick, Victoria, usually within 1 to 2 business days. Australian orders generally arrive within 2 to 8 business days, and international orders within 5 to 12 business days. Shipping is free on every order with no minimum spend, and everything is sent with tracking. For our US customers, tariffs are covered.

Most of our products include a QR code that unlocks a free online video course valued at 110 dollars, taught by Karin herself. Scan the code, work through the lessons at your own pace, and you will know exactly how to use your new tools. Every purchase also comes with an invitation to the members only Tea Table Circle.

If you change your mind, you are welcome to a store credit or exchange within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, in its original packaging and returned with proof of purchase. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility. If an item arrives faulty or damaged, please send photographs within 5 days of delivery and a refund will be arranged.
