Frequently Asked Questions

What is charm casting?

Charm casting is a divination practice in which a collection of symbolic charms is cast onto a mat or casting surface. The position, grouping, and proximity of where each charm lands forms the basis of a reading. It is an intuitive, tactile practice that can be used daily for personal guidance or combined with other divination methods.

How do I start charm casting?

Hold your charms in both hands and focus on your question or intention. Gently cast them from a few inches above your casting mat. Read the meaning of each charm according to where it lands. Charms near the centre carry the most significance; those that land outside the mat can be set aside. Every charm kit includes a QR code to access a free online course, taught by Karin herself, for step-by-step guidance.

Do I need any experience to use a charm casting kit?

No experience is required. Every kit includes a meanings reference and access to a free online video course, taught by Karin Dalton-Smith. The courses are self-paced and designed for complete beginners as well as those with existing divination experience.

What is the Labyrinth Through Time kit?

The Labyrinth Through Time is a six-in-one divination kit designed by Karin Dalton-Smith. It incorporates charm casting, card reading, dice reading, mediumship, numerology, and pendulum reading in a single portable tin. It is Tea Leaf Reader's bestselling product and includes a 76-page instruction booklet plus a free online course valued at $110 AUD.

Can I add new charms to an existing collection?

Yes. Add-on charm kits are available to expand your existing collection. Starter kits and add-on kits are designed to complement each other, with no duplicate charms across the sets. Each additional kit also includes access to expanded course content.

Where are the charm casting products designed?

All charm casting products are designed in-house by Karin Dalton-Smith in her studio in Berwick, Victoria, Australia. The designs are original, copyright-registered, and trademarked by Tea With Karin. Every product is dispatched by hand from the studio with tracking.

Can I use these charms alongside my tea leaf reading cup or cards?

Yes, that is exactly how they are designed to work. Cast the coins or charms over your tea cards, oracle deck or casting mat to add a further layer of insight to the same reading.

Is there a current bonus with the Labyrinth Through Time kit?

For a limited time, the Labyrinth Through Time kit includes free bonus alphabet charms with every kit sold, on top of the six-in-one system already included.

Are the charms portable?

Yes. Several of the coin sets are designed as a portable oracle you can carry with you, minimalist and metal, so you can bring a reading practice with you beyond the tea table.
