The cup that looks at home in every kitchen

Cobalt birds and flowering branches in the classic Chinoiserie style, on a white cup and saucer finished with a 24ct gold rim. Inside, traditional tea leaf reading symbols are printed permanently, so you can read your leaves from the very first cup.

I'm Karin. I design these cups, I read with them, and I teach people to do the same. Blue and white is the most timeless cup in my range: it suits every table, every kitchen and every decade.

How it works

Drink your tea, leaving a little liquid and a few leaves behind. Swirl the cup three times, turn it onto the saucer to drain, then turn it back over. The leaves settle beside the printed symbols: those near the rim speak to the near future, those near the base to what lies further ahead. Your guide tells you what each one means.

What it gives you

  • A timeless daily ritual that never looks out of place
  • Clarity on the questions already sitting on your mind
  • Ten quiet minutes a day that belong only to you
  • A gift for anyone who loves blue and white china

The design

  • Cup: white, with cobalt blue Chinoiserie birds and flowers and a 24ct gold rim
  • Saucer: matching blue and white Chinoiserie pattern with a 24ct gold rim
  • Inside: traditional tea leaf reading symbols, printed permanently on white
  • Spoon: gold teaspoon with a crystal-topped handle

What you receive

  • 1 Blue and White teacup, 220ml (7.4 fl oz), with genuine 24ct gold
  • 1 matching saucer
  • Gold teaspoon with a crystal-topped handle, a gift from me
  • 2 sample tubes of my tea, chosen because they read clearly
  • Symbols guidebook, with a QR code that takes you straight to your free online video course (valued at $110 AUD)
  • Want a full pack of tea? Choose the green blend (a light strawberry note) or the black blend (a light rose note) above.

From Karin

I learned to read tea leaves at my mother's table in Tasmania, and I have been reading them all my life. For years my readings spread by word of mouth; in 2012 I took my practice online, and in 2017 I opened my online school, where over 17,000 students have since learned with me. Every piece is designed by me and made in my Berwick studio.

Frequently Asked Questions

These cups are made to be used, not just admired. Most are porcelain and some are New Bone China, both vegan friendly with no animal bone ash, and the imagery is kiln fired into the glaze, so it will not fade, scratch off or wash away with daily use. Karin has put them through extensive testing of her own for longevity. Hand washing is recommended to protect the 24kt gold and platinum detail.

Yes. Every cup is lead free, tested by Karin herself, and the imagery is food safe because it is kiln fired into the glaze using commercial factory grade equipment, which makes it permanent. That means you can drink from your cup every day with complete peace of mind. Please note that cups with gold or platinum detail must never be put in the microwave.

You do not need any experience at all. Each set comes with a symbols guidebook and a QR code for the free online video course, valued at 110 dollars, where Karin walks you through everything from brewing the cup to reading the symbols with confidence.

Loose leaf tea works best, as the leaves settle into the shapes you will be reading. Every teacup set arrives with two tea samplers, a green tea and a black tea, so you can begin the moment it lands on your table, and Karin's own reading blends are available in 25 gram bags when you are ready for more. If you prefer tea bags, the course shows you how to work with those too.

Everything you need is in the box. Each set includes the cup and saucer, two tea samplers, a green tea and a black tea, a teaspoon to match the one pictured in the listing, the symbols guidebook and the QR code for your free online video course. It is a complete tea leaf reading kit ready to use straight away, with nothing further to buy, which is part of what makes it such a lovely gift.

Every order is packed and dispatched by hand from Berwick, Victoria, usually within 1 to 2 business days. Australian orders generally arrive within 2 to 8 business days, and international orders within 5 to 12 business days. Shipping is free on every order with no minimum spend, and everything is sent with tracking. For our US customers, tariffs are covered.

Most of our products include a QR code that unlocks a free online video course valued at 110 dollars, taught by Karin herself. Scan the code, work through the lessons at your own pace, and you will know exactly how to use your new tools. Every purchase also comes with an invitation to the members only Tea Table Circle.

If you change your mind, you are welcome to a store credit or exchange within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, in its original packaging and returned with proof of purchase. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility. If an item arrives faulty or damaged, please send photographs within 5 days of delivery and a refund will be arranged.

Yes, and a great many of our orders are gifts. Gift wrapping is complimentary, so simply leave a note at checkout to let us know, along with any short message you would like on the gift tag, and Karin and Linus will take care of the rest.
